IBSA in its mission to promote the cultivation and conservation of our
wonderful treasure chest of bulbs. As a member of our
organization, you will share in the following benefits:
- Seed.
We distribute seed of South African bulbs (donated by our members).
- Network
and Information. If you live in the vicinity of Cape Town you
could attend our monthly meeting, which usually features a talk on an
interesting bulb-related subject, as well as spectacular displays of
our members' flowering plants. This is also a good opportunity to
meet other growers living in and around the Mother City. We also plan
to start an email newsgroup soon, that will encourage the sharing of
information among members.
- Publications.
Receive our monthly newsletter, 'Bulb Chat' for up to date information
on bulbs and the society, as well as our glossy Bulletin which appears
once a year.
- Field
trips. During the winter and spring months we usually
organize a couple of outings in the Western and Nothern Cape to see the
bulbs in flower.
- Conservation.
We create opportunities for members to become involved in the
conservation of bulbs.
Our activities are currently largely based in the Western Cape, but we
welcome members from elsewhere in South Africa and the world.
